Join in a consideration of the role, philosophy and impact of the 14th Dalai Lama, taught by three Jung Center teachers who have hosted him personally. The class will explore the history of the position of Dalai Lama in Tibetan Buddhism, the Life of Tenzin Gyatso, and his distillation of Buddhist values for a world-wide public. We will review key elements of his teachings, including the centrality of kindness and compassion, his conception of wisdom, his outlook on relations among religions, and his notions of universal responsibility to society and the planet. Instructors will give an account of their own personal experiences with His Holiness. Each class will finish with a short meditation.
